I am every inch an American. I love this country and all that it stands for. I hold in awe the founding fathers who framed our constitution and I absolutely believe they crafted a system of government never before seen that has proved itself over time to be the most effective such system ever devised.
I have been a good citizen all my life. I served my country, provided for my family, abided the law and paid my taxes without issue or fight, hoping lawmakers used those taxes to better our country according to the will of the majority. Or so I thought!
At the most elemental level we are a democracy, the glue of which has been our kindred spirits. In polity we held a similitude of opinion, of agreed upon standards and values representing who we were as a people. Organizing/guiding us was the constitution which created a fair and equitable republic to direct our wants and goals. This molded us into a cohesive force in which every person could grow and thrive according to their innate abilities.
We became the world’s best democratic republic proving our worth in every way except demographic equality! Stated another way, ethnic/racial impartiality. At our founding racism/ discrimination were rampant throughout the world and the American pilgrims/pioneers were no different. When they arrived they generally held themselves out as being above the native peoples. Then, as some acquired blacks or dark-skinned slaves to work their land it was seen with similar drift. Some were concerned yes, even in those early days, but the general attitude was tolerate/patience/acquiesce.
It’s unfortunate and tragic that America was victimized in this way. At our founding the framers argued and were beside themselves trying to find a solution, but it could not be. There were too many of opposing view to mollify, to enforce such a contrariness onto their prevailing ways. It took almost 100yrs and Abraham Lincoln to finally rectify the tragedy and – with great expense and unimaginable suffering – end this wrong with a Civil War.
That describes in a nutshell how we came to be, who we are as a people and why I’m proud to be an American! We’re not perfect. We have many flaws, but we started out with a great plan and good intentions and have striven to improve/better ourselves over these past two+ centuries. We’ve become the greatest place on earth for people of all colors/ethnicities to live and prosper. That’s why I like it.
With that, let’s leave what I like and the horrors of slavery and turn attention to what I don’t like: the current administration, which defrauded our election process and disenfranchised the majority! More than anything we’ve been a nation of laws/constitution and we acted within these constraints, playing fair in government and politics – until now! On 11/3/20 this administration and fellow miscreants manipulated, undermined and stole our votes using gimmickry and technology, accomplishing a bloodless coup: insurrect- ion! They installed themselves as a rogue administration pretending to be upstanding, carrying on as though no evil thing had happened. Making matters worse, over half the country did not detect or perceive this evil thing.
Those who did went on to learn this wasn’t new. It happened many times before, like when Trump beat Hillary, which was never supposed to happen! But in prior times their methods were subtle and quiet, leaving voters to believe all was well.
Here we see by their actions how this administration is unfit to govern. They’ve launched ideological attacks on our constitution, laws, Judeo-Christian roots, virtually all the freedom we enjoy in our society.
We are held captive by apathy, inertia of fixed opinions/attitudes, disbelief of those normally aligned with progressives, illogical anti-Trump hatred and unwillingness of those who are aware/awake to act, take to the streets and so on. I don’t like this, being held captive and played the fool. It’s hard being a good citizen in face of this, seeing my own tax dollars used against me!
How can I accept the federal government ignoring borders? Refusing to help Texas? Letting in millions of illegals? Giving benefits? Tolerating sanctuary cities/states? Claiming Voter ID isn’t required? Claiming illegals have the right to vote; taking no action to clean up voting rolls in many states; appointing underqualified/dysfunctional persons to many key positions throughout government
How can I accept weaponizing the Justice Dept, FBI, CIA and IRS; corrupting the courts; indecision and/or standing down of many police departments in the face of anarchy/mayhem; defunding police and decriminalizing many misdemeanor/ felony-level crimes?
How do I accept the withholding of valid remedies by health authorities; mandating preventive steps which were untried/ unproven; demanding we be vaccinated with untested/non FDA approved drugs?
How can I accept anti-American curricula in schools; racist indoctrination in universities, law enforcement, judiciary, media, health services, military? Why are kids being prodded to review their biological gender under age ten and shown multiple aspects of sexuality? Who helps them do this without parental approval?
I don’t like these things and more, and I don’t want my tax dollars being used to support them. If I take all of the above and compare it as part of all tax spent, I think it amounts to more than 90%. Given this, I propose that whatever my taxes are, I only pay 10% under duress until such time we manage to reinstate our constitutional republic, rule of law and freedom-driven society! I’m a patriot all the way for the original American experiment but refuse this bastard pantomime any support – taxes included! I’m a citizen under the constitution of these United States of America; nothing less! How about you? Join me and help save America!
