My fellow Americans, (r)epublicans & free market capitalists: The lefties are coming! The lefties are coming! Would that you heed the call as did other patriots not so long ago when the cry was – The British are coming! The British are coming!
Why the panic? In a word, millennials. Youth under 30. They’ve been thoroughly indoctrinated into the joys of socialism with few opposing views and a false perspective of a socialist reality. Plus, they don’t understand the work ethic needed to succeed in society. Stats show about 10% can’t find jobs. That’s about 250K unemployed/under-employed annually with degrees. The frustration must be huge. Combine that with their politics and I worry they comprise a growing HardCore Left {HCL}. We know this by their support and enthusiasm for Bernie Sanders.
Other HCL’S include chronic unemployed, academia [K]>college, entertainment industry, print & TV media, all levels of government, majorities of blacks/people of color, women and LGBT’s and self-identifying ultra-lefts such as socialists, communists, globalists and a variety of America-haters. Add non-activist and non-agitator Soft Core Left {SCL} democrats, a healthy percentage of old folks you get the picture.
HCL plus SCL and the fact democrats are growing faster than republicans, well, millennials could be the trigger finger shooting more & more socialists into government. They’re not taught so can’t appreciate our history; don’t value the relative superiority of our system; can’t comprehend how much impoverishment and flat out struggling-to-survive peoples there are in the world not to mention the bias, bigotry, racism, brutality and hatred.
Can’t find jobs. Naïve radicalized idealists. Numbers growing. No wonder democrats are being invaded. Dissatisfaction, low self-esteem, victimhood mentality combined with progressive politics all feeding a have/have-not world-view kindling fires of resentment, rebellion and revolution.
What’s to be done? First, face the gravity of this socialist threat. Remind all Americans how we got here, how the political commodities of free markets, capitalism, democratic republicanism and constitutionalism shaped us into this magnificent society. Take stock of who we are, how we got here, how successful we have been and how lucky we are to be living in this great land.
Re-educate ourselves on the evils of socialism, how miserably its failed time and time again, how horrible and devastating have been attempts to make it work, resulting in hundreds of millions of lost and ruined lives.
Immediately address the education problem. Demand balance and openness in instructional methods so young people are exposed to opposing viewpoints. Validate historical events and perspectives so they are factual, accurate and contextually proportional to the immediate history in which they occurred. Stop all federal grants/subsidies to politically lopsided universities and/or to their nakedly-political, monolithic depts/courses.
Refute the bias of main stream media. Reject fake news and leftist messaging in our films, theater, literature and music. Marginalize pop culture in favor of the values and precepts of our Judeo-Christian heritage which has been so instrumental in formulating and shaping our national persona.
Apathy is our enemy and will lose the day. It’s time to take action, to quit ignoring the problem and to re-invigorate this great experiment in freedom called America. I’m fighting with letters, articles, dialogues, attitude, reading, ongoing learning, voting and as much generosity as my pocket can bear.
